Abstract

In Brazil, in the state of Paraná, soybean production is conventionally practiced on farms with a 45-centimeter row spacing and a plant population per linear meter of 9 to 11 plants. However, this population arrangement may not correspond to the spatial distribution that promotes less intraspecific competition among soybean plants, resulting in better yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate the yield components of soybean in different population arrangements. The study was conducted in the field, in the Londrina-PR region, during the agricultural harvest season.2017/2018, in a randomized block design, using three plant densities: 6, 8, and 10 plants per linear meter, and three row spacings: 0.45 m, 0.50 m, and 0.60 m. Through this work, it can be concluded that there are changes in the behavior of the soybean crop in relation to the different population arrangements employed. The highest grain yields were obtained with the 60 cm row spacing, followed by the conventional (45 cm row spacing), using 8 plants per linear meter.
